The Ministry of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI) is looking into allegations that Nvidia's artificial intelligence (AI) chips, linked to a fraud case, were transported from Singapore to Malaysia. In response to media inquiries on Monday, MITI stated that it would provide comments once further details are available.
Singapore's Minister for Law and Home Affairs, K. Shanmugam, revealed that servers involved in a fraud case may have contained Nvidia AI chips, which were subsequently sent to Malaysia. He noted that authorities are still uncertain whether Malaysia was the final destination or if the chips were moved elsewhere. Additionally, there are concerns that false information may have been given regarding the servers' intended destination.
According to a Singapore news report, the AI chips were embedded in servers supplied by Dell and Supermicro to Singapore-based companies before being transported to Malaysia.
