Global technology firm ZTE Corporation has joined forces with CelcomDigi Bhd (KL:CDB) to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) into Malaysia's telecommunications infrastructure.
This partnership aims to enhance connectivity, empower businesses, and support government-led digital initiatives through AI-driven solutions. Key innovations include advanced calling features, intelligent deep packet inspection, and AI-powered network operations and maintenance.
"Our collaboration with CelcomDigi is a major step toward bringing AI-driven advancements to Malaysia's telecom industry. By integrating cutting-edge AI solutions, we are enhancing user experiences and enabling digital transformation for businesses, ultimately accelerating Malaysia's journey as a regional digital hub," said ZTE Malaysia Managing Director Steven Ge.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) for this initiative was signed during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 at Fira de Barcelona Gran Via. The signing was witnessed by Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching, representing Minister Fahmi Fadzil, during her two-day working visit to Barcelona.
MWC, the world's largest connectivity event, brings together industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers to showcase groundbreaking advancements in mobile technology and digital transformation.
This year's 19th edition in Barcelona features the Malaysia Pavilion, highlighting the nation's progress in 5G deployment, digital infrastructure, and collaborative innovation in the ASEAN region.
