Transformasi 663 - Melaka Kampung Digital

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has formed a strategic partnership with the Melaka government through the Kampung Digital Melaka (KDM) Initiative agreement. In a statement issued on Monday 6th January 2025, MCMC described the initiative as a key step towards equipping all premises in Melaka with a structured and comprehensive address system.

"This agreement will drive the development of sustainable technology and digital infrastructure in Melaka, delivering substantial benefits to the local community," the statement noted. The Kampung Digital initiative, according to MCMC, is Malaysia's first to incorporate QR codes, modernizing the address system in 623 traditional villages in Melaka and enhancing access to public service data. The project has also been recognized by the Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM), receiving a logo trademark that positions it as a national model for digital villages.

MCMC stated that it would provide technical support and share information and data to facilitate the implementation of the National Address System (NAS). "The NAS will act as a centralized, authoritative system for managing over 12 million addresses across Malaysia in collaboration with various stakeholders. "This partnership between MCMC and the Melaka government is vital, and efforts will be made to ensure it continues to grow," MCMC said. The project is expected to positively impact Melaka and serve as a blueprint for other states to develop a more inclusive and competitive digital ecosystem. The KDM Initiative Agreement Document Exchange Ceremony was held today, with MCMC chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Salim Fateh Din and Melaka state secretary Datuk Azhar Arshad signing the agreement. The event was attended by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil and Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, alongside other key officials, including Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan, Datuk Mohd Ali Hanafiah Mohd Yunus, and Datuk Zulkarnain Mohd Yasin.
