Google Makes Gemini Live Real-Time Prompts Free for Android Users

Google has announced that its Gemini Live real-time prompt feature, previously reserved for Gemini Advanced subscribers, is now becoming free for all Android users through the Gemini app.

Expanded Access to AI Features

Last month, Google began rolling out Gemini Live's ability to take real-time prompts using either your phone's screen or rear camera. Initially, this functionality was limited to users subscribed to the Google One AI Premium Plan. Now, the company is making the feature more widely accessible.

The news was shared on Google's official X (formerly Twitter) account, where the company stated that the rollout begins today and will continue over the coming weeks. However, at the time of writing, many users (ourselves included) have yet to receive the update.

Why the Change?

In the announcement, Google noted that the expansion is a response to positive user feedback on Gemini Live's capabilities with camera and screen sharing. While it's a welcome move for Android users, some might speculate that the broader release could also serve Google's interest in gathering more data for AI training purposes.

When Will You Get It?

Though the rollout has started, users may need to wait a little longer before the feature appears on their devices. Patience is key—whether you're excited to try it out or just curious about how the real-time prompts function in day-to-day use.
