Unlocking Grab VIP in Malaysia: My Experience and Perks

I recently qualified for Grab's VIP program in Malaysia, which comes as an added benefit on top of the existing Gold and Platinum membership tiers. While it requires consistent spending to maintain, the perks definitely make it worthwhile for frequent Grab users like me.

To be eligible, I needed to spend at least RM3,600 within a three-month period, which aligns well with my usual monthly spending of around RM1,500 to RM2,000 on Grab services. However, the VIP status only activates in the following quarter after qualifying. For instance, if I hit the spending threshold in February, I wouldn't see the VIP benefits until April.

The perks of being a Grab VIP are quite useful. One of the biggest advantages is getting five free Direct Delivery upgrades for GrabFood orders every month, which ensures faster delivery without extra charges. Additionally, there's priority customer support, making it easier and quicker to resolve any issues with orders, rides, or other Grab services. VIP members also enjoy enhanced Platinum-level perks, such as better reward points accumulation and exclusive discounts.

To retain VIP status, I need to continue spending at least RM3,600 every quarter. If I fall below that amount, I lose the status, but I can regain it in the next cycle if I meet the requirement again. The good thing is that all Grab services contribute toward this total, including GrabFood, GrabMart, GrabExpress, and Grab rides. Since I already rely on these services frequently, the VIP program adds extra value to my spending without requiring major adjustments.
