Instagram Rolls Out New Features—Finally, No More Screenshotting Messages to Remember Them!

Meta is giving Instagram a major upgrade, introducing a batch of new features that aim to make chatting, sharing, and organizing much smoother. From translating messages on the fly to scheduling DMs and sharing song snippets, Instagram is finally adding features we probably should have had ages ago.

Here's What's New:

1. Auto-Translate Your DMs

Ever received a message in a language you don't understand and had to copy-paste it into Google Translate? Well, not anymore! Instagram now lets you tap on a message and translate it instantly—covering 99 languages, including Malay, Tamil, and Mandarin.

Honestly, it's about time. They already had comment translation, so why did we have to wait this long for DM translation?

2. Schedule Messages Like a Pro

Wish you could schedule a birthday message so you don't forget? Now you can! Simply hold the "Send" button, choose your preferred date and time, and your future self will thank you.

The catch? Right now, this only works for text messages—so if you planned to schedule a meme to roast your friend at midnight, you'll have to do it manually.

3. Pin Messages and Images in Chats

Previously, Instagram let us pin up to three chats at the top of our DM list. Now, they're taking it a step further—you can pin up to three specific messages or images inside a conversation.

Perfect for keeping track of important details, like splitting the bill with friends (or, more likely, reminding them that they still owe you money).

4. Share Song Snippets in Chats

You could already share songs in Notes, but Instagram is upping the game by allowing 30-second previews of tracks directly in chats. Just tap the sticker tray, select 'Music', and send the snippet to your friends.

Now you can convince people your playlist is fire without making them leave the chat.

5. Invite Friends to Group Chats via QR Code

No more copy-pasting invite links—Instagram now lets you generate a QR code to add friends to group chats. Just tap the group name at the top, click the invite link, and a QR code appears.

Now, instead of sending an invite link, just wave your phone in someone's face and let them scan their way into the conversation.

Rolling Out in Batches—So Be Patient!

These features are being released globally for Android and iOS, but if you don't have them yet, don't panic. Meta is rolling them out in stages, so just hang tight. Which feature are you most excited about? Or is there something you wish they'd added instead? Let's hear it!
