Grand Theft Auto V has received a brand-new Enhanced Edition, bringing Ray Tracing, NVIDIA DLSS, and AMD FSR3 to the game. Rockstar's latest update finally brings long-awaited graphical and performance enhancements to Los Santos, making the game look and run better than ever. In this blog, I'll break down how GTA 5 Enhanced performs on my RTX 3070, i9-10900, and 32GB RAM setup at 1080p Ultra Settings.
What's New in GTA 5 Enhanced?
Rockstar's update introduces several major graphical improvements that make the decade-old game feel fresh again. Here are the key upgrades:
- Ray Tracing – Enhanced reflections and lighting for a more immersive world. Shadows and reflections now look more natural, adding depth to the city of Los Santos.
- NVIDIA DLSS – AI-powered upscaling that boosts performance while maintaining high visual fidelity. This helps improve FPS at higher resolutions, especially for RTX users.
- AMD FSR3 – The latest upscaling tech from AMD, now with Frame Generation, which increases FPS by interpolating additional frames. Unlike DLSS 3, which is exclusive to RTX 40 series, FSR3 supports RTX 30 series as well.
- Performance Optimizations – The game runs more smoothly on modern hardware with better CPU and GPU utilization, ensuring a more stable gaming experience.
My Setup & Test Conditions
For this test, I ran GTA 5 Enhanced on the following hardware:
- CPU: Intel Core i9-10900
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3070
- RAM: 32GB DDR4
- Storage: NVMe SSD
- Resolution: 1080p
- Settings: Ultra, Ray Tracing On, DLSS vs. FSR3 Comparison
FSR3 vs. DLSS – Which One Performs Better?
Since GTA 5 Enhanced now supports both NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR3, I tested both upscaling technologies to see which one provides better performance on an RTX 3070. Here's what I found:
- DLSS (Quality Mode) – Delivers great image clarity but doesn't include Frame Generation, meaning FPS gains are moderate.
- FSR3 (Performance Mode) – Provides higher FPS than DLSS because it includes Frame Generation, even for RTX 30 series cards. The game feels much smoother, especially in high-speed chases and combat situations.
Winner: FSR3 is the better option for RTX 3070 users due to its Frame Generation support, which DLSS lacks for this GPU series.
GTA 5 Enhanced – Performance Benchmarks
Here's how my RTX 3070 performed in GTA 5 Enhanced at 1080p Ultra Settings:
With FSR3, I gained a noticeable FPS boost over DLSS, making it my preferred choice for smoother gameplay.
Final Verdict – Is GTA 5 Enhanced Worth It?
For a game originally released in 2013, this Enhanced Edition brings meaningful upgrades, especially with Ray Tracing, FSR3, and DLSS. If you have an RTX 3070 or similar, I highly recommend using FSR3 with Frame Generation for the best balance between performance and visuals.
While these improvements don't make GTA 5 look like a fully next-gen game, they do give it a significant facelift and keep it relevant for modern hardware. If you're jumping back into Los Santos, this update is absolutely worth checking out.
